Enter the Matrix

What's the Matrix, you ask? Well, when I first started the project, I looked up the word "matrix" and found about 6 or 7 definitions, including the movie by that name. For our situation, a martix is "a data array of two or more dimensions".
Simply put, the Men's Magazine Matrix Gallery will be an attempt to put up the cover, publisher, and publication date of as many men's magazines as we can manage. Sort of like Comics.Org does for comic books.
I think it's a worthwhile project. Every cover of a magazine, in order. I had a lot of images of the old "Adam" magazine, so check that one out at the link above to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
This new site is NOT connected with this one, aside from the fact that I own them both. If you want to join in there, you'll have to fill out a new registration. If you just want to look, go ahead; there's no need to register to see the covers. Enjoy!

The Matrix
Submitted by Cyber Sleuth on Tue, 05/06/2008 - 00:54.This is a great idea! Do you have any guidelines or can we post any covers? Any plans do have any more info than cover, publisher and publication date?

Thank you.

As it grows, I hope to have more info. Guidelines are just (for now) any men's magazines. I'm not sure about the modern day stuff. I guess it has to be included to be complete.
The more information I can gather, the more I'll include. If someone submits information such as the models in the issue and even a review, I'll include that.

Submitted by Cyber Sleuth on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 03:46.Thanks, that was the kind of guideline I was looking for. I uploaded that Jaguar cover and have more to do. What is the best way to submit text info about the Jaguar series as a whole, like you did for Ace?
Also, in your Matrix guidelines, I want to be sure I understand how broad your definition of men's mags is. Do you consider mags about adult (XXX) films to be men's mags?
Please don't think I'm being picky, but I have had a hard time getting a consistent definition and I'd rather not waste your and my time.
Let me explain where I'm coming from. Since you complimented the GCD (comics.org) on your home page of the Matrix, I want you to know, it was very much appreciated. For you see, I was one of the 2 co-founders of it. So, I know that the more people that get involved in a project like the Matrix, the more definitions of "men's magazine" you will get. At the GCD, we have a constant problem with people wanting to expand the definition of a comic book. You would think that everyone knows what a comic book is, but it ain't necessarily so when you factor in graphic novels, tabloids and all the other stuff that have comics in them.

Wow! I'm honored you're
Submitted by admin on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 06:56.Wow! I'm honored you're here. I love your site and I've spent way too many hours going through it, looking at Golden Age and Silver Age comic book covers. I'm impressed with the layout. What software package are you using for it? Or is it made from scratch?
I don't know if I'd include, say, Adam Film World, as a girlie magazine. Perhaps we can butt heads and come up with a clear definition of what makes a girlie mag.
I once got a pretty large collection of a particular title (Scamp, I think) that included semi-nude cover models, but inside each issue was about three pages of the model and another 77 pages of articles and fiction. I wouldn't exactly consider that one a girlie mag either, but I guess I'd have to. Maybe any magazine with at least one pictorial, either nude or pinup.
As for how to include any data, just include it in the CAPTION box when uploading and specify where it would go, or send me a private message here. I'll correct that later so that data can be more readily included.
