Partial Magazines Added: Shiek vol 1 no 1 1959 (ABC Publications) & Sizzle vol 1 no 7 1962 (Smash Publications)

Oh, how I wish it wasn't so!
These are two great magazines from G Barrett. Unfortunately, they're missing some pages, so they ended up in the Partial Magazines section. I'll talk about each one separately.
Sheik was like a standard girlie magazine trying to be one of those digests that gives lip service to being "an aid to the model and photographer". They have some beautiful girls here, but almost seem apologetic about that, with photographer tips on most pages (yeah, like anyone was reading THOSE). They were odd in that they talked as much about the photographers as they did the models. In fact, a few models aren't named, but they made sure the guy behind the camera got a byline. I wish it had some of those missing pages, because some of them feature the beautiful Anita Ventura. But she only gets one page here because the next two are missing. I guess they went into some guy's scrapbook. If I ever find another copy of the mag at a good price, I'll snag it and add the missing pages.
Sizzle, on the other hand, is more like one of those aforementioned digests trying to be a standard girlie magazine. The whole thing looks rushed, with typed pages (instead of typeset pages) and poor paper stock. No story is broken up, continuing from page to page until finished. This is surprising for a magazine on its seventh issue and I can't wait to find some old issues of Sizzle to see how long this went on. Possibly until the end, whenever that was!
Not bad mags, but I miss those missing pages!
